YOU GROW GIRL! TALK SERIES
(Happy Being A Girl with the Help of Whisper)
YOU GROW GIRL! Is one happy sharing session – where girls like us get to share and appreciate all things positive, fun and great about being us, GIRLS.
We at Whisper listen to you. Today is all about you.

As you enter puberty, your physical body undergoes a lot of changes. Your breast will grow bigger and you will start to have pimples. The most important change in your body na talagang ma-feel mo ang iyong pagdadalaga ay ang iyong menstruation period.
Having your monthly period is not a bad thing really. For one, its part of being a girl so you have to embrace it. As long as you have it, you know that you are healthy and normal. What girls like us fear the most is not the menstruation period itself but the fear of having “stain” when you have your period at school or in public places.
We at Whisper, believe that you can indeed have a HAPPY PERIOD. We just wanted more control over our monthly period, kasi mas wala tayo control, mas kinakabahan tayo kasi may risk na maabutan tayo ng hindi prepared, or matagusan tayo when we are not using a reliable sanitary napkin. So how can you control the situation and make sure that you and your friends have a HAPPY PERIOD?
- Monitor your monthly period. Majority of us have a regular monthly period. All you have to do is mark on your personal calendar when you last have your period. If your period is regular, it will most likely fall within that same period again every month. Bring an extra sanitary pad.
- When you have dysmenorrhea, mood swings, or your feeling discomfort, make your friends or even your teacher aware of it. That way, they will be more sensitive about your feelings, they will extend more patience to you and understand you.
- Use a reliable and predictable sanitary pad. Whisper guarantees 8 hours of all day and all-night protection. This helps particularly for girls who can’t change their pad due to their busy school schedule.
Being happy requires having positive disposition in life. As the saying goes, you can look at a half-filled glass of water. One person, who has a positive outlook will see a HALF FULL GLASS . Another person, on the other hand, who has a negative outlook will see a glass HALF-EMPTY.
Whisper believes that being positive in life is habit forming, and you can start by only choosing to use positive words or message into your everyday conversation.
For example, instead of saying your friend is chubby, you can say, she has curves like J-Lo. How about if your friend is getting moody, instead of calling her “toyo-in”, you can call her “in-touch with her feelings”.
The way you approach your menstrual period can also be the way you will see your life as a whole. Kung kaya nyo to see your period as something that can be a happy experience, then same goes with your life or other experiences. So cheer up, HAVE A HAPPY PERIOD!
Being kikay, is being self-conscious about your own personal style & the way you take care of yourself—whether it’s the way you take care of your skin or what clothes or accessories you wear. It’s about being aware of yourself. And being aware of how you are being seen or what image you are projecting to others.
All the best make-up in the world can not top or replace a radiant, smooth or good looking skin. Same goes to your hair. Sometimes, just having a nice good looking skin or hair is enough to boost your confidence and make you happy. When you’re feeling good and confident about something, and if you are using a reliable napkin like Whisper, you tend to forget that you have your period. That’s why it’s so easy to have a HAPPY PERIOD!
Here are some helpful tips:
HAIR CARE
- Shampoo everyday to take out dirt & dust that your hair collects from your daily activity.
- Proper shampooing: Start applying from the hair roots down to the tips.
- Condition everyday to moisturize hair.
- Proper towel drying. Start from the tip of your hair to the top. Avoid drying your hair vigorously as it damaged the hair.
SKIN CARE
- Wash your face twice a day (no more) with warm water and a mild soap. Gently massage your face with circular motions.
- Avoid popping pimples. Popping pimples can push infected material further into the skin.
- To keep bacteria away, wash your hands before applying anything to your face.
- Keep hair clean and out of your face to prevent additional dirt and oil from clogging your pores.
- Protect your skin from the sun. The sun causes damage to skin that will eventually lead to wrinkles and increase your risk of skin cancer.
- Fashion is all about you. Relying heavily on TV or magazine is not always a good idea. It’s possible to look great with whatever budget and figure you have.
- For petite girls or girls na maliit ang body frame, you need to keep clothes in line with slim narrow belts. A slight contrast in colors and fitted lines will flatter you endlessly. Also stay with fabrics that are soft and flowing that fits well. Please avoid huge prints or designs.
- For tall girls, you can indulge in wide belts, avoid tight clothes and skirts that are too short or too long. Beauty experts advise tall women to play down their waist by wearing their blouses over the pants and skirts and avoid tight belts.
- For full-figured girls, you can use clothes with vertical lines. V-necks and skirts with slits up the sides are also good. Choose accessories close to the same color of clothes you are wearing including shoes. This gives your body a slimmer look. Choose fabrics na hindi nag-cli-cling o kumakapit sa inyong katawan.
- For the top heavy body types, or girls na may kalakihan yung dibdib or upper body, you need to choose long jackets. Avoid wearing clingy fabrics on top, choose darker colors on top, and avoid wearing tops that are too light. Choose thin materials like cotton, or cotton jersey. One color dressing will also be thinning. Flat shoes are best unless you are short.
We appreciate what’s uniquely fun and happy about us being girls, lalo na yung mga changes that we go through habang nagdadalaga tayo. We wanted you to be HAPPY and POSITIVE about yourself and embrace the changes that will come your way!
Having friendship or crush with the opposite sex is an important aspect of healthy development for girls like you. However, boys can be really confusing, especially when it comes to crushes. He may text you constantly but never tells you why. He might stare at your English class then ignore you in the hallway. Maybe you've got a sneaking suspicion that your guy best friend likes you.
So how can you be somehow sure that a boy has a crush on you. Here are some of the tell-tale signs….
- He Thinks You’re The Best in Everything
You told the worst joke in class the other day, at siya lang ang tawa ng tawa. You dance on stage and he gives you a standing ovation. You pass a math quiz and he thinks you’re a math genius or something. If any of these situations sound like yours, there's a good chance that he likes you.
- You Can Feel It
OK, this may be a frustrating piece of advice because, as a teen, you're still learning how to recognize and trust your intuition. However, if you have a feeling that someone's falling for you -- even if you don’t know why exactly, you’re most likely right.
- He Can't Help Staring At You
He may look into your eyes for a long time, or he might glance at you compulsively then look away, but one way or another, his gaze is constantly headed in your direction. This is one example of body language -- a great clue about whether someone really likes you.
- He Wants To Be Close To You
Maybe he finds a way to pass by you each afternoon in the school lobby, or lagi na lang siya lumilitaw or dumadaan sa classroom mo. He might not say anything to you, but he wants to learn more about you.
- He Remembers Anything You Say
Two weeks ago you mentioned that you've always wanted to learn how to play basketball, and he brings it up pag nagkwentuhan kayo. Maybe he remembers that your favorite color is green or takot ka sa ipis. In any case, if he's paying attention to little details like this, he's probably into you.
- You Make Him Smile All the Time
When you walk into the room, his face lights up. Pag nakasagot ka ng tama sa klase, ngumingiti sya as if nanalo siya sa lotto. It seems like your presence is enough to make him happy each time. :)
- He Tells Someone He Likes You
He might tell one of your friends or his that he likes you, or he might be a little more subtle and say something like "Wow, ang bait talaga niya!”
- He Values Your Opinion
He asks what you think about something that's important to him.
So you think a boy is indeed having a crush on you? Remember, this should be the happiest period of your life, so make sure to cherish this stage in your life!
Mom remains to be our one true friend even as we grow older. Here are some tips to bond with your moms without spending much:
- 1.Bring your photo albums to your mom and spend time looking through them, recounting stories or events that are important to her or to the both of you.
- Write on a paper what you and your siblings love about your mom. Decorate a glass jar and insert these papers. If ever mom is feeling low, she can read each message and will instantly feel better.
- Create a GC or gift certificate for your mom. Each GC will entitle your mom to a personalized service such as FREE massage from you, FREE Chocolate Cake, etc.
- Make mom “Queen for a Day.” Make sure she knows about this in advance so she can come up with some interesting demands.
- Have a Happy Period moment with your Mom. Use your period as your trigger date, to have 1 single bonding day with mom. It works like your monthsary celebration. Whenever you have your period, think of it as your reminder to spend (1) great bonding time with your mom. It can be as simple as a movie watching on DVD, ice-cream or food pig-out or shopping with your mom. Whatever it is, make it part of your calendar!
As the saying goes, tell me who your friends are and I tell you who you are. Next to our family, our friends have a huge influence over our lives.
Whisper believed that part of having a HAPPY PERIOD is a friend who cheer us up when we really need it, a friend who we can share our secrets with, even if its as simple as checking out if you have stain when you have your period, and of course a friend who will be sensitive to our needs.
Here are some tips on how you can keep friends for life:
- Be open to your friends. Next to your family, you have your friends to rely on if something is bothering you or when you are having a blast or having those HAPPY PERIODS in your life. It’s ok to have secrets. But it pays when you have someone who understands what you are going through.
- Know your friend’s special dates, particularly his or her birthday. Make this a very special occasion and make her feel important by being the first to text or by organizing a simple birthday party for her. Gifts or surprises need not be expensive; you just need to be creative. Hand-written greeting card, a personal appearance by her crush, cute little cakes or gathering of all her friends make more wonders than fancy gifts.
- Make yourself available whenever your friend needs someone to talk to. Most of our friends just need a shoulder to cry on.
Anything that we experience has more meaning when we share it with people closest to us. Whisper wrote this pledge to mark this important stage in your life.

Pledge:
I believe na kapag meron ako, ito ay time to be happy.
Kaya mula ngayon, I pledge to do whatever it takes to have a happy period.
All girls are special. I am special.
Kaya mamahalin ko ang aking sarili.
I will tackle all challenges with a big smile:
Kapag masakit ang puson ko, kakain ako ng chocolate.
Kapag bad trip ako, sasayaw ako ng parang walang nakitingin.
Kapag bad trip ang friend ko, kakantahan ko siya ng napakalakas.
Dahil alam ko na lahat ng ito’y parte ng pagdadalaga,
At gagawin ko ang lahat para maging masaya.
I know that ang pagdadalaga ay special.
I will enjoy every moment of it and have fun with my friends.
Alam kong marami ang magkaka-crush sa akin.
Kapag nagpa-cute sila, ito ay dahil cute ako!
I pledge to give a warm embrace to my friends pag meron sila.
I will smile. I will be happy. I will always have a happy period.
HAVE A HAPPY PERIOD!
